Celebration of Life

Today the Student Council and the Sixth Form Student Leadership Team respectfully and with great maturity represented our school as the cortege for Henry Hall, the 6 years old Glebe pupil, who sadly lost his battle with cancer earlier this month, passed the school.

This marked a significant event for the community as a whole and our thoughts are very much with Henry’s family and friends at this very difficult time.

Year 11 Parents’ Evening

Thank you to everyone who attended the Year 11 Parents’ Evening last night.  For the first time we trialled a new approach whereby pupils received their mock exam results in an envelope prior to starting their appointments with staff.  The purpose behind this was to replicate the experience of the GCSE Results Day in August but at a time when it is not too late to make a difference!

We have been very impressed with the attitude to learning of this year group and their excellent attendance at intervention and revision sessions.

Over the remaining months, it is the quality and quantity of the work the pupils undertake outside of lessons that will pay the highest dividends.  As parents and carers of Year 11 pupils, please do continue to praise them and encourage them to keep going, there is not long to go now!

School Uniform Donations

We are very proud of our school uniform, and value the sense of belonging and identity that pupils and students get from wearing it.

However, we are aware that with the rising costs of living, it can be difficult for families to always buy brand new items of uniform.  With this in mind, we are committed to ensuring access to the correct uniform is never a barrier to learning.

We have always supported families via lost property items and/or kind donations of second-hand school uniform.  However, in order to continue to support as many families as possible, we would be grateful for donations of any items of uniform that are in good condition. These will be then available for sale at a discounted rate to anyone who may need to make use of the facility.

The proceeds of any sales will go to the PTA.

If you do have any problems obtaining any items of school uniform, please do contact us, in the strictest of confidence, at pupilservices@sweynepark.com.

Borthwick award

Congratulations to Louie H in year 10 who has won an award for the best overall student in his drama agency.

The award went to a child who attended most weeks, always learned his lines and is dedicated and a kind person and who deserves recognition.

Louie has attended drama school since the age of 5 having the opportunity to be part of TV commercial adverts such as butlins. Including TV programmes and online work for several marketing companies.

Terri, Louie’s mum: I’m so proud of him for winning this award! It’s a true testament to his dedication and determination, proving that hard work pays off even when faced with challenges. He’s achieved this despite the fact that there are other children in the agency who sometimes find acting easier than Louie, which makes me very proud that Louie has won the Borthwick award.

What do you do when you're not in school?
